AND it’s the Western North Carolina Mountains that we call home…so there is a specific fondness that comes with photographing weddings in Cashiers.
We’ve stood in a lot of these rooms and along a lot of these lawns, camera in hand, watching couples say “I do” against a backdrop that does half the storytelling for us. So, if you’re planning a mountain wedding and trying to narrow down where to hold it, consider this a love letter from someone who’s been there.

Why Cashiers, North Carolina?

High Hampton Resort
High Hampton is a Cashiers institution, sitting at 3,600 feet with sweeping views of Hampton Lake and the mountains beyond. The property has been welcoming guests since the 1920s and was beautifully reimagined a few years back, so it now blends its storied history with a more elevated, year-round hospitality experience. For photography, this venue is a dream. The Pavilion for indoor ceremonies and receptions, the lakeside lawn, Rock Mountain Terrace, and the Laurel Garden all offer distinct settings within a single property. Couples who want their day to unfold across multiple beautiful backdrops, without ever leaving the grounds, tend to fall for this one.

The Chattooga Club
If you’re envisioning something more exclusive and intimate, the Chattooga Club is worth a look. It’s a private mountain club known for a timeless, refined atmosphere — the kind of setting that suits both quiet, intimate affairs and more lavish celebrations. As a country club property, it comes with the polish and hospitality that make hosting easier for you and your guests, while still delivering those unmistakable Blue Ridge views in the background of every portrait.

Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club
For couples who want sweeping, big-sky mountain views as the centerpiece of their day, Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club is hard to beat. Ceremonies here are almost always held outdoors, often on the 18th tee box or one of the scenic lawns, with Whiteside Mountain rising in the distance. Couples frequently follow with a tented reception. Sailcloth or clear-structure tents are popular choices; set up right on the club grounds so the long-range mountain views stay part of the celebration well into the evening. As a private, member-owned golf and lake community, hosting a wedding here generally requires membership or sponsorship by a current member, so it’s worth having that conversation early if this is the setting you have your heart set on. Wade Hampton Golf Club
Wade Hampton is about as exclusive as it gets in Cashiers — a private, members-only club built around a Tom Fazio-designed championship course that regularly ranks among the best in the country. It isn’t a venue that markets itself for weddings the way some of the others on this list do; it’s a golf club first, set in a quiet mountain bowl surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. That said, we’ve photographed intimate family celebrations here for member families, and the setting has a hushed, understated grandeur that’s hard to replicate — rolling fairways, dense woodland, and mountains that seem to wrap around you on every side. If you or your family belong to Wade Hampton, it’s worth asking your membership contact what’s possible for a small ceremony or private gathering on the grounds.

Lonesome Valley
Lonesome Valley is one of the most exclusive settings on this list — a private community just outside Cashiers where weddings take place around thousand-foot cliffs and the storybook craftsmanship of the Jennings Barn. It’s been named Best Wedding Venue in North America by BizBash, and the reason is easy to see once you’ve stood on the property: the scale of the landscape here is almost cinematic, with the rock face catching light in a way that photographs beautifully at nearly every hour of the day. Lonesome Valley pairs its setting with farm-to-table menus from its own culinary team, and by design, only hosts a handful of weddings each season, which keeps every event feeling deeply personal and unhurried.

Chimney Pond Farm
For couples drawn to something a little more rustic and grounded in the land, Chimney Pond Farm is a working Fraser fir farm set high on the Highlands/Cashiers Plateau. Rolling hills, blueberry bushes, grapevines, and fields of fir trees make up the canvas here — and it really is a canvas, since the venue leans into a build-your-own-vision approach rather than a fixed setup. For us, this kind of open, agricultural landscape is a gift. It gives us layers: foreground, middle ground, mountains beyond. True to color, true to the moment, exactly as it was meant to look.

Starting cost: Wedding packages start at $15,000 for up to 100 guests, $17,500 for up to 150 guests, and $20,000 for up to 200 guests, plus a $500 site fee if you’re hosting a ceremony only. Packages include wedding planning services and planning portal access, a venue coordination team with rehearsal and day-of coordination, getting-ready spaces for both wedding parties, a ceremony site set with chairs, round tables and Chiavari chairs, and decor like candelabras, votives, easels, whiskey barrels, and lanterns. Farmhouse rental, which sleeps 18 guests, is required for all Saturday weddings and starts at $3,500 for a 3-day rental.
Cedar Creek
Cedar Creek is a private club built around a 1938 summer retreat, and it carries that history in its bones — the ease and elegance of a bygone Cashiers summer, still very much alive today. It’s a wonderful option for couples who want their wedding to feel like a continuation of something timeless rather than a one-off event.

Starting cost: The rental fee starts at $1,000 for a ceremony and/or reception, covering six hours of event time excluding setup and cleanup. That includes bride’s and groom’s dressing areas, a dance floor, day-of coordinator, full kitchen facilities, and reception tables, chairs, silverware, and glassware for up to 75 guests. A food and beverage minimum applies, since all catering is handled by the club.
Notable Mention: Camp Merrie-Woode
Camp Merrie-Woode isn’t a traditional wedding venue. It’s a historic, all-girls summer camp on Fairfield Lake, founded in 1919 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has quietly hosted weddings for couples with a personal connection to the place, and it’s an incredible spot for engagement photos. The Adirondack-style cabins, the still water of the lake, and the surrounding mountains give it a nostalgic, storybook quality that’s hard to find anywhere else in the area. We love it most for engagement sessions with couples who grew up coming to Cashiers, or who just want that quiet, lakeside, cabin-in-the-woods feel in their photos. Since it’s an active nonprofit camp rather than an event venue, access and availability are limited and typically arranged directly through the camp office.
