Palais Royal Engagement Session
A rainy morning out for a Palais Royal Engagement Session is still just as magical if the sun were shining. Dodging the raindrops with Alyssa and Kevin was so fun. These two love birds are a wonderful couple. Alyssa is wearing a gorgeous Vintage gown designed by Hardy Amies, that was worn by Miss Australia in the 1970s. Leah Blake with Century Girl Vintage found this beaded silk chiffon masterpiece at auction in London, England.
Palais Royal
Built for Cardinal Richelieu by French architect Lemercier, who also designed the Sorbonne (1634), opposite the Louvre, became a royal home (during the regency of Anne of Austria) and then the seat of the Orléans family from 1661. The palace was finished and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The three wings adjoining the gardens date from the late 18th century.
Today’s magnificent impressive surroundings give no hint as to the revolutionary fervor that abounded here in the 18th century, nor of its reputation in the 19th century as a place of promiscuity.
This is one of the popular spots for locals and tourists to come for a stroll. The Comédie-Française and Palais-Royal theatres and the Grand-Véfour restaurant with its listed décor still bring in the crowds. Contemporary art is also well exemplified by its main courtyard and columns designed by Buren and two mobile fountains by Pol Bury (1985).
