Visiting Flora in Asheville is a creatives dream. As a phototgrapher and coffeeshop lover the space is very inspiring. Every time I have been in I have dreamt of doing a bridal session there.
The inspiration for this bridal editorial is a botany loving bride at her favorite shop in Asheville North Carolina. A flower shop, a wedding florist and coffee shop all rolled into one. We wanted this feature to give the vibe of a bride out on the town enjoying herself prewedding. Her style is mid-century modern with a nod to a high fashion makeup style.

As a child, Melissa loved making mini bouquets and hair crowns like many little girls. Her first job at a local flower shop was to process flowers and at a greenhouse making moss baskets. During this time is when her love for botanicals became clear. She dabbled in and out of flowers figuring out what she wanted to pursue creatively. Flora began in Melissa’s basement with her daughter in tow. And as her family grew so did Flora. Taking a leap of faith and opening a storefront was the next adventure.
She loves the day to day sending folks off with pretty botanicals to fill their lives. Adoring special occasions when she gets to transform spaces with her team. Making one of the most important days in someone’s life pretty with flowers. Flora continues to grow with an abundance of creatives and talent that enter its doors. No longer just Melissa but a strong group of folks packed with great purpose to make the world a more lovely place.
