Rachel had always visualized a bright, spring wedding, but had trouble conceptualizing the overall aesthetic. After going through our extensive event design process, we took inspiration from one of Rachel and Chris' favorite spots, The Garden Room which is an immersive garden bar in the heart of Atlanta. While Rachel was not a bride to shy away from bright colors, she did want a very classic ceremony. We opted to use a progression of color throughout the event. While the ceremony started out with all white and ivory florals, the cocktail hour added the use of some color to tie together the design of the ceremony and reception spaces.
With a colorful spring wedding in mind, naturally Rachel wanted to incorporate that into the bridesmaid's attire. While she gave them a color guide to go off, the dresses the bridesmaids chose were a complete surprise to her on the wedding day! To keep things cohesive with the wedding party attire, Chris and the groomsmen opted for classic black tuxes.
Venue: Swan House | Event Design & Planning: Luxe Atlanta Events
The Swan House was designed as a home for Edward and Emily Inman. They rich heirs to a cotton fortune and used their money to help rebuild Atlanta after the destruction of the Civil War. More recently, it was used as President Snow's mansion in the movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The Atlanta Historical Society purchased the Swan House in 1966, and have been working to restore and preserve the house ever since. They have been incredibly generous in sharing the house with the public, and it is now a house museum and headquarters of the Atlanta Historical Society. The house is an incredible testament to Georgian history, and is a must-see for anyone interested in history or architecture.
