Drive down Main Street in Highlands past the town library. Keep going for a mile and you’ll drop rather dramatically off of the Highlands Plateau. For almost a thousand feet along a tightly winding road, you travel and when the road finally levels out, you’re in Horse Cove. I think Horse Cove in Highlands, North Carolina is one of the prettiest places in Highlands. It’s a small valley with high mountain walls and where we photographed Jackie and Daniel’s beautiful wedding. Their Highlands North Carolina Wedding in Horse Cove was family-only, quaint, and full of love followed by a reception at Skyline Lodge Highlands.
Hill House in Horse Cove Ceremony
Jackie and Daniel’s day starts at Skyline Lodge where they get ready for their wedding. And then we meet them at The Hill House where Jackie steps into her gown with her mom and best friend, Lauren. She’s ready to meet Daniel for their first look among the trees in Horse Cove. Stepping into The Hill House there is floral wallpaper everywhere and a huge piano in the far window. It’s a gorgeous freeze frame of a time gone by.
After their first look Jackie and Daniel’s families, about 25-30 guests, arrive and sit in chairs looking out to the side of the mountain. Jackie is escorted by her dad down the aisle to Daniel and they share their vows to each other. After the ceremony everyone shares a celebratory glass of champagne. A few family photos and portraits of the bride and groom and we were off to the reception at Skyline Lodge.
Skyline Lodge Wedding Reception
When we arrive back at Skyline Lodge all of Jackie and Daniel’s friends join their family to celebrate the happy couple. They enter the tented Butler’s Bar and share the first dance. Guests are mingling while being served specialty cocktails named after the couple’s dogs Weller and Rusty and yummy Hors Devours. The party continues into the night with dinner, fireworks, and a five-piece live band. Scroll down to see more from this gorgeous Highlands North Carolina Wedding.
