An Enchanting Afternoon at Middleton Place
A dream afternoon at Middleton Place? Absolutely! My dear friend Tara and I teamed up with Luxury Charleston Wedding Photographer Clay Austin for an editorial shoot at this stunning venue. We also had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Colby in two gorgeous Emily Korarski wedding gowns.
Capturing Beauty Among the Spanish Moss
Middleton Place offers so many beautiful spots for photos, especially for a bride and groom. We began our session in a grove of trees draped in Spanish moss. The lively and colorful bouquet from Festoon perfectly complemented the setting. Despite the chilly Charleston weather—quite unusual for this time of year—Tara and I couldn’t help but joke, “Who broke Charleston?” We usually think of Charleston as warm and sunny, but this day was overcast and cool. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop us from creating magical imagery!
Middleton Place: A Historic and Romantic Venue
Middleton Place is not only a breathtaking location but also steeped in history. Founded in 1741, it’s home to America’s oldest landscaped gardens, offering an array of picturesque settings from lush gardens to tranquil lakes. The venue’s charm and timeless elegance make it an exceptional choice for weddings, providing a romantic backdrop that enhances every moment.
Stunning in a Second Bridal Gown
After photographing in the mossy trees, we headed to the Butterfly Lakes. Colby jogged up and down the hill a few times, and the images are absolutely breathtaking—just wait until you see them! We wrapped up our session around the house and barn, capturing a few more shots in Colby’s second Emily Korarski gown. Both gowns were versatile, with or without a cape. I especially loved the second cape!
