Every once in a while a momma gets a little break from real life. My good friend Brittany is moving overseas at the end of the year and so Steph, another good friend and I decided we have to do something. So we surprised Brittany with a weekend to The Magnolia Silos. So from the start we told Brittany’s husband, John, to just tell her to keep the weekend free. As the weekend got closer she started asking questions so it was difficult to keep the secret, but we did it! We flew into Dallas and spent the weekend talking, shopping, and eating cupcakes! And riding three wide on the bench seat of Oliver’s truck, which was a pretty funny sight I’m sure.
So much hype! Was it worth it? I say yes. Going to the Silos after watching Fixer Upper on HGTV was pretty neat. Stepping into The Silos Bakery after watching Chip and Joanna renovate it on TV, was kind of surreal. But the overall feel and quaintness of the place was my favorite. It has such a community feel to it, its not too big, and a great place to gather. After meandering through the store we made our way to the food trucks parked in the back, which what a great idea! I had a burger which was super yummy, under the shade of a sweet covered picnic table. But there was a Taco Truck, Crepes, Salads, a really great variety of foods. We downed a few yummy treats from the Bakery after seeing the Seed + Supply store. And delicious is an understatement. After leaving Magnolia we wandered over to find Harp Design Co. which is the company Clint owns who makes many beautiful things for Joanna and the Fixer Upper show. His shop was so cute!
So I am sure many of you who follow Fixer Upper know that Chip and Joanna have a restaurant which is not supposed to open until the end of March. We wanted to see it, since when would we come back to Waco? But when we drove by there were tons of people milling about so we hopped out of the truck and asked who was able to be there? “All are welcome” the gal holding the door open smiled. Well I was excited we were going to get to eat there, but there was a two hour wait and they had just cut the line off. Somewhat of a bummer, but the lavender latte and croissant I had made up for it.
We milled around Waco for the rest of the day and then I got to meet up with a couple for a photo session, so a pretty perfect weekend if you ask me. Click here to see Mandi and Adam’s session if you missed it. Now I am back home and settled back into our routine, but I loved my time with friends!
Enjoy these images from Magnolia.
