Wedding weekends are our favorite! We love to celebrate over an extended amount of time with our couples! We joined Amanda and Patrick and their families at their Rehearsal Dinner the night before their wedding day. They invited their family and wedding party to join them for a wonderful meal at Highlander Mountain House in Highlands, NC. A cozy gathering at the Roughed Grouse Tavern was the perfect way to start their weekend.
After a few courses of delicious food and dessert, the couple’s family and friends gathered round to give toasts to the couple. They all attested to the amazing journey Patrick and Amanda have been on and how perfect they are for each other. What an encouraging time to share in. As the room was filled with love and laughter dinner drew to an end. But just after the dinner was a welcome party for all the couple’s guests. The room filled with a roar of laughter and smiles as people filtered in. You can see Amanda and Patrick’s perfect wedding day here!
Highlander Mountain House is a place where Appalachian lodge and refined English country estate meet! Built-in 1885 reportedly for a retired sea captain from Charleston, South Carolina. The Highlander’s design narrative has roots in the region and draws on the area’s unspoiled natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Including the Cherokee tribes, Scots-Irish homesteaders, moonshiners, and the avant-garde artists. The resulting design is a suitably eclectic mix.
Also, The Ruffed Grouse is the inn’s elevated, all-day tavern. A communal gathering space where locals and travelers enjoy this Old World vibe. It is the heart of the Highlander. The Ruffed Grouse serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. With their regionally-influenced fare with seasonal ingredients from Blue Ridge farmers. In addition, there are craft beers on tap as well as an expertly edited wine list from small family-run vineyards.
