Tanya here! Harry (the hubs and second shooter) told me the night before this session: “We need to get to bed early for a 5:30 am wake-up call.” He knows me too well. I am not a morning person! But with a grin, I said as long as I get to shoot then I will be just fine getting up early for sunrise engagement photos at the National Mall in Washington DC. I mean when in Rome right?
An unseasonably chilly morning in DC had us in our down Jackets. That did not deter us from meeting Caroline and Ben for a sunrise engagement session though. We met at the Lincoln Memorial just as the sun was rising behind the Washington Memorial. It was pretty magical to see the sunrise in DC. Caroline and Ben chose the Lincoln Memorial for their engagement session because that is where Ben proposed to Caroline at sunrise. So it’s very sentimental. Caroline is active Navy and Ben works in Washington DC. They met in the Navy and are getting married in Charleston SC later this year.
We had so much fun taking photos at the National Mall. It’s a gorgeous location and at sunrise, there is hardly anyone out. It was actually quite appropriate that a company of new active military were out on their morning run as we finished up our session.

Are you looking to get engagement or wedding photos at the National Mall? We would love to connect with you and hear all about your wedding plans.
