I met Ben and Kelly out at the John C. Campbell Folk School last week with their sweet puppy Olive. They just celebrated two years of marriage and spent some time together in the mountains to get away. These two were an absolute joy to hang out with! Kelly could not stop smiling the whole time. Their love for each other is so evident! And their sweet dog Olive was just the best addition to their perfect anniversary session.
Ben and Kelly met in 2014 at a bonfire/movie night that the church put on in November. They were introduced by the fire, when Kelly thought “he’s handsome, but too short for me.” And Ben seemed to think nothing of the introduction. Then He started to show up more and more to the small group Kelly was getting involved with and she quickly realized he had a heart for the Lord like she was looking for in a man. They hung out a few times in group settings. On December 26th he bought a new car and met Kelly at her house to help move her into her new apartment. That night he asked Kelly on their first date.
On January 9th 2015 Ben talked with Kelly’s dad and they officially began dating! It didn’t take long for them to fall in love. In June, on a family vacation to Maine they got engaged. He flew up and joined the family a few days after the vacation started. That morning Ben and Kelly got up and went for a bike ride through Acadia national forest with Kelly’s Brother and sister-in-law. That evening they walked to dinner in town and then walked to a secluded bridge overlooking a small bay near their cabin. While walking Kelly asked what their life would be like together, little did she know it was the prefect set up. Ben dropped to his knee and asked Kelly to marry him! Kelly was so excited she forgot to say yes!
They were married at The Lange Farm on January 9th 2016. It was a warm winter day, and even though the outdoor reception got rained out, the party didn’t stop inside the barn! They honeymooned in Mexico and then Murphy, North Carolina.
Since then they have lived in 2 apartments, Ben has moved jobs, and loves where he is now. They got their puppy, sweet Olive, in March of 2017. She turned 1 the day after their 2nd Anniversary! And they just bought their first home in October, and are LOVING it.
