For Easter weekend we decided to forgo the egg hunts and traditional Easter outings. We packed up the kids and headed to Chattanooga. Harry and I try to do something special before his schedule gets crazy during the summer. So off to Chattanooga, we went. The kids get giddy about vacations. And rightfully so, it’s all so fun! From the hotel pool, eating super yummy food, to playing hard all day? I think it’s important to get away with your family once in a while even if its camping or just a day trip somewhere.
For me sometimes it’s easier just to stay home rather than to travel with three kids. Or to just get out of town by myself and take a break from everything at home. But we think it’s important to spend time as a family and create memories our kids will always remember. After we did this same trip last year I knew we had to do it again because we had a blast.
Instead of spending a lot of money on the kid’s museum or aquarium, the only thing we spent money on was our hotel. Which we got a deal on the hotel on Priceline. Then we spend money on food. Everything else was free and we made our own fun. We hit up the cardboard sledding hill. Then the carousel, the playground, and of course the free bus you can ride through Chattanooga. We would have played in the free water fountain splash pad, but it was broken. However, we walked across the walking bridge and got to spot paddlers in the river as they went by.
We treated everyone to pizza, donuts, and ice cream during our stay of course, and the change of pace was refreshing. Time set a part when all you have to do is focus on your family and having fun is definitely needed once in awhile. We had a blast and it was fun to just have a weekend all to ourselves. If you are ever looking for a place to vacation with kids we would suggest Chattanooga for sure!
This post is the continuing personal journey of savoring motherhood through photography.
Enjoy…there is more to come.
