A family reunion, 50th anniversary, and the eclipse

Meet the O’Leary Family! Scott from Orlando and Dan from Auburn, met their parents in the North Carolina mountains to celebrate their parents 50th wedding anniversary. All very interested in the Eclipse they decided to make it an anniversary gift for their parents. Totality happen right over Murphy, NC where a friend of the family owned a “get-away” cabin. Scott and Dan’s mom had been before and she loved it, so we decided to bring the whole family up to see this once-in-a-lifetime event and make some  pretty remarkable new memories together.

Dan and his wife Cheryl and family are avid Auburn fans, their whole family attending Auburn helped. Scott went to school in Tampa at USF, but recently returned to Orlando. The family with two kids are the Kology’s.  Jeff Kology is Scott’s best friend and have been so since high school.  He is more like a brother to Scott and a third son to his folks.  They were inseparable when they were young and he was always spending time with them.  He went to school at FAU, where he met his wife Meghan.  The two adopted little Hailey after being told they would never have kids.  That’s also when she got pregnant with Dillon.  Funny how those things work out.  They moved to North Carolina about ten years ago and they love it.

What a fun getaway for everyone, and a once in a lifetime experience to get to see a total eclipse of the sun! Enjoy!

Family getaway in the mountains

Meet Steve and Daphne Oakes, celebrating 40 years together, they gathered with their family for a vacation in the mountains. From rocky mount, Va, a small town about 30 minutes south of Roanoke, Steve and Daphne were high school sweethearts and both of their parents were from the Rocky Mount area as well. Daphne is a retired registered nurse at the local hospital and Steve is retired from administration in the school system in rocky mount/Franklin County.
Their children Evelyn and Clay and all their grandchildren gathered in the mountains to enjoy some fun family time together. Clay and his wife live in Rocky mount with their four children. Both Clay and his wife are X-ray technicians at the local hospital. Evelyn and her husband live in Virginia Beach, Va with their two children. Evelyn moved there ten years ago to go to school and met her husband there. She now works as a speech therapist and her husband works in sales.
I had a wonderful time meeting this awesome family and getting to know them a little bit. I am always so encouraged when I meet couples that have been together for a significant amount of time. Congratulations to Steve and Daphne, 40 years is a great milestone…here’s to many more together.

Summer visits and Photo sessions

Meet the Gattens! How stinkin’ cute is this sweet family? We have known Steph and Oliver for a long time now, Harry did an Outdoor Leadership semester with Oliver back in 2006. Steph and I (Tanya) had our first babies only a month apart.

Steph and Oliver made some big changes last year, when they decided to move to Montana for Oliver’s welding job. Needless to say we missed them, but this week of visiting has been so good for reconnecting. Keller, our oldest and their older boys Silas and Judah are like three peas in a pod.

While they were in Montana they added a sweet little girl to this mix of crazy boys and how adorable is she? I can’t wait until our girls are all old enough to play together!

I had so much fun getting to take some family photos for such sweet friends. I just love my job, especially when I get to hang out with good friends. Enjoy.
